family: “age 11”; “Waverly (IA) Republican” [6 Feb 1873]: ‘Man
Frozen to Death” gives account of Nelson Boots — described only
as “Boots” — freezing to death after a day of heavy drinking and
a countryside wander with a friend; Wavery Public Library quote
