Clara Mae Ross “Chapter XV: Michael Alt Family” ‘Children of
Michael and Mary (Boot)s Alt’ [manuscript: 2001]: of Michael
Alt’s 12 children, only first 8 are certainly those of Mary
Boots; remaining 4 likely a second marriage to a Mary after
presumed death of Mary Boots: ‘circa 1790 — before 11 Jun 1845’;
family group chart (Mrs. Julia A. Thompson, Baltimore, MD):
‘named in will of Adam Boots, 19 April 1802 & also a signatory
to estate documents for 1824 and 1826 regarding her father’ —
“History of Grant and Hardy Counties, West Virginia” p. 85,
gives a marriage for Elizabeth Alt to George Michael, 29 May
1817 (by Valentine Powers): is this an earlier marriage than the
one above referred to? — 1880 Greene Co., OH census at (Spring
Valley township) [p. 374C; ll. 18-20]: Lavina Boots, daughter of
Adam & Hannah (Rice) Boots [single all her life] age ‘50’; house
keeper, ‘servant’; born in Virginia as were her parents — she is
servant for Elizabeth Rohnbaugh, age ‘70’ (also VA born), who
may be Eliz. Alt [#347], daughter of Michael & Mary (Boots) Alt,
though her age would be some ten years older (a census vaguery?)
— but this unlikely to be Aliz. alt because, per “Rohrbach
Genealogy” by Lewis Bunker Rohrbaugh [1970] pp. 42-43, which
states that her husband’s 1845 Hardy Co., VA will does not
mention his wife (presuming death); this source also proposes
Elizabeth Alt’s birthdate as ‘1785-1790’; “Rohrbaugh / Sites /
Ketterman” by Virginia Perry [17-II-2001] pp. 28-29
