Strong’: ‘one of the pioneers of Delaware Township. He is the son of Reuben & Anna Strong, and elder brother of Alfred B. Strong. He was born September 10, 1806, in Greene County, Ohio, and was reared on a farm. He acquired a common school education in his native county, and, as he grew to manhood, adopted the pursuit of farming, at which he has ever since been engaged, with marked success. He has accumulated a large estate, and is recognized as ne of the leading farmers of his township. November 18, 1834, he married Miss Clarissa Rohrbaugh, and, in the following December, settled in Delaware County, Indiana. Delaware Township ws then almost an absolute wilderness, and the fine farm which he now cultivates has been cleared and improved by himself. He has been prominently identified with many of the public improvements of the township and county, and is an esterprsing, wide-awake man.… For over 40 years, Mr Strong & wife have been members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.… They are the parents of six children, namely: Solomon R., Elizabeth A., Samuel M., Martha C., Abarrilla J. and Mary M.’; 1850 Delaware Co., IN (Delaware township) census: John Strong, 40, b.
