‘Michael Alt & wife to IN abt 1848; son Jacob’; Priscilla
Boswell to L. Ellingham [e-mail 9-X-2002]: ‘[Eliz. (Light) alt
signed a deed of conveyange to Jacob Barkdall on 25 Apr 1835,
Hardy Co., VA (Deed Book 15, pp. 371-374). Then on the 1840
Pendleton Co. VA census, Michael Alt has a female 40-49 years in
his household. I assume this is Elizabeth. She was dead before 7
Mar 1849, when Michael Alt deeded two tracts of land to Jacob
and William Alt. Hardy Co. VA Deed Book 21, p. 498. [Therefore]
dead date ‘1840/6 Mar 1849’.”
