Martin Boots, son of William Boots and grandson of Martin A.
Boots, made in 1913 (quoted variously, inter al. by Rose D.
Marsh, columnist for a Marion newspaper [n.d.]: “Caleb S. Boots
died in 1884 — his first wife Nancy Boots died prior to that
time. His second wife, Eliza, died in 1905. His wives
(deceased) left heirs: Charles Boots lives in Muncie, and his
wife Catherine Boots, also a daughter, Jennie Boots, lives in
Muncie, Indiana”; Barbara Carpenter notes (handwritten comments
on a Martin Boots Descendants Report by L. Ellingham, 2000
A.D.): ‘born Mar 1822’ & for Caleb S. Boots’ 1st marriage
[Amanda Johnson], ‘I have a son James D. born Oct 1851, Marion,
IN & died 13 Dec 1851; buried IOOF Cemetery, Marion, IN; Amanda
probably died in childbirth’; “I.O.O.F. Cemetery Records (per
DAR Cemetery Records)”: ‘Amanda J., wife of Caleb Boots, died
(inscription lost)’; 1850 Grant Co., IN census (p. 269A; ll.
22-23]: age 18, Ohio-born — neighbors of John W. Flinn family —
the 1910 Marion Co., MO (Liberty township) at Palmyra City [E.D.
100; Sh. 5B; line 87]: gives ‘Mrs. Amandy Boots, age 79, born
Indiana; parents from Kentucky; widow; 7 children born, 7
living’ [born c. 1831]: is this in fact the ‘dead wife Nancy’
referred to above? and if so, 7 childrenpreclude them being all
by C. S. Boots
