middle name, more probably used only by son, Absolom Lincoln
Garringer] & gravestone dates ‘26 Nov 1827 — 25 Nov 1887’ &
estate settlement, widow, ‘Elizabeth, and minor [children]
heirs, Wm. Henry, Absolom & Solomon’ — interesting that other
sources place other siblings as also young, born intermixed with
these — Harper Co. marriage record attributes Daniel R.
Garringer son of this father [Absolom], but 1880 Harper Co., KS
census shows him as son of (Absolom’s son) Wm. & Hannah F.
Garringer; Barbara Carpenter’s comments & corrections on
Alexander Garringer Report by L. Ellingham [2001]: [‘Lincoln’
absent, only Absolom] ‘born 12 Jan 1827, died 25 Nov 1886;
buried Danville (Harper Co.) KS; served Civil War, Co. I, 18th
Regiment (from Putnam Co., MO); left Putnam Co. after 1876;
farmer’; “Descendants of Alexander Garringer” by Carol J.
Anderson [2000]: same dates as B. Carpenter, adds burial venue;
1860 Putnam Co., MO census (Liberty township) at Chariton Mills,
p. 363 [ll. 19-25]: age 33; farmer; real estate value, $1000;
personal assets $500; 1880 Butler Co., KS census [E.D. 163; Sh.
2; ll. 29-36]: age 53, born in Ohio; from Jacki McDermott’s
research [2004]: ‘Absalom born 12 Jan 1827-1829, age 41 in 1870,
and age 33 in 1860, both Putnam County, MO censuses, born
probably Fayette County, Ohio, married 15 April 1850, Howard
County, Indiana, to Delilah Ann Martin (same Martin family as
Mary Louisa and Joseph, they were all children of Daniel Martin
and Mary Snyder) died 26 Nov 1886 in Harper County Kansas.’;
obituary [n.d.] but penciled margin note gives birth & death
dates exactly one year before all others quoted here, 1828/1887,
though obit. says ‘died on the night of November 24th, aged
59y10m12d’ [thus year datings 1827 or 1828 through 1888 are
possible; obit. sent L. Ellingham by Carolyn Stewart, Harper,
KS, Jan/Feb 2005]; (from Walter West to L. Ellingham)
“Descendants of Adam (Stieffel) Boots” p. 3: middle name
‘Lincoln’ [unlikely, as born 1827; son, b. 1866, has middle name
‘Lincoln’]

Absolom married Delilah Ann Martin [1412] [MRIN: 636] on 15 Apr 1850 in Kokomo (Howard Co., In. (Delilah Ann Martin [1412] was born on 3 Oct 1829 in , , Ohio, USA and died on 4 Apr 1919 in Freeport, Harper, Kansas, USA.)
