General Notes:
“Descendants of Adam Boots (1733-1803)” (1966; 1977) [LDS flim #1036425] p. 403: marriage date ‘15 Apr 1850’ & death ‘Feb 1864’; Rick Hambrock “Descendants of Alexander Garringer” [Nov 2000]; Barbara Carpenter’s comments & corrections on Alexander Garringer Report by L. Ellingham [2001]: vital statistics (used here); “Descendants of Alexander Garringer” by Carol J. Anderson [2000]: same dates and places as B. Carpenter, adds ‘killed by rebels’; “Descendants of Adam Boots (1733-1803)” (1966; 1977) [LDS flim #1036425] p. 404: husband’s estate settlement, widow, ‘Elizabeth, and minor [children] heirs, Wm. Henry, Absolom & Solomon’ — interesting that other sources place other siblings as also young, born intermixed with these, including this child [Eliz.]; 1860 Putnam Co., MO census (Liberty township), p. 367 [ll. 15-19]: age 27, born in Indiana; from Jacki McDermott’s research [2004]: ‘Elizabeth Rebecca, born about 1833 in Randolph County, Indiana married [to Jos. U. Martin] 14 May 1853 in Howard County, Indiana, CA, p. 51, died Feb 1864 in Putnam County, Missouri (from Goodspeed's History of Adair, Sullivan, Schuyler and Putnam County 1888, article on Joseph Martin which I will copy later.) Elizabeth was said to have been killed by Confederate raiders in Missouri after being raped and tortured in the barn with her four little children hiding there also, as told by granddaughter Emma Martin Garringer before she died in 1992 to Pat McNeel. Probably buried in St. John's Cemetery, Livonia, Putnam County, Missouri, no stone.’
Elizabeth married Joseph U. Martin [1414] [MRIN: 638] on 14 May 1853 in Howard Co., IN. (Joseph U. Martin [1414] was born on 27 Apr 1835 in Seneca Co., OH, died on 16 Feb 1903 in Putnam Co., MO and was buried in Feb 1903 in Saint Johns Cemetery, Putnam Co., Missouri.)
