Bluffton; Henry Hummer, near Pennville; James Hummer, near
Montpilier; George Hummer, east of this city; & alva Hummer, who

and sent for a copy of Washington's war papers. In this was
found Washington and Jane's marriage license dated Nov.5, 1862
in Delaware Co. Muncie, Indiana. She was married under the name
Jane McDaniel. My grandfather, George, never knew if her real
name was Jane or Jennie. His father went by the name Wash. A
resident, James Weaver, of Blackford C. Indiana swore under oath
that her real name was Jane Mc Donald and not Jane McDaniel;
however, he stated her family's name was known in the community
as McDaniel . That was dated 1/6/1921. She was applying for
widower's pension.

There were two more daughters born to Jane and Washington that
were not on your list. Mary was born Mar. 20, l966 and died Mar.
26, 1894 (Mother said she had a stomach tumor) Anna b. August
20, 1876 d. ?’

Jane married Washington (“Wash”) Hummer [14380] [MRIN: 1563], son of Amos Hummer [19758] and Sarah Schumacher [19759], on 5 Nov 1862 in Muncie, Delaware, Indiana, USA. (Washington (“Wash”) Hummer [14380] was born on 15 Aug 1839 in Jamestown (Greene Co., OH, died on 18 Dec 1919 in Trenton, Blackford, Indiana, USA and was buried in Pleasantdale Cemetery, Blackford Co.
